Criminal defense: Three college students charged with drug crimes

Three university students are facing drug charges after a year-long investigation by local police. The three males, two aged 19 and the other aged 20, attend Pennsylvania's East Stroudsburg University and will need a strong criminal defense against drug charges. Local police got wind of two rival groups at the university last year, and some members were allegedly engaged in selling marijuana. Those sales apparently became a competition between members of the two groups.

Recently, Monroe County Drug Task Force members along with Monroe County Office of the District Attorney detectives, Pennsylvania State Police troopers and police officers from Stroud and the university acted on two search warrants on university dorm rooms. The uncovered a number of items allegedly connected to the three accused men. Among those items were two ounces of marijuana, a digital scale, 10 prepackaged bags of cannabis of about two to three ounces each, cell phones, a substance thought to be cocaine and a lock box containing marijuana.

The three suspects were charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and related offenses. They have been arraigned and are awaiting a preliminary hearing. The date of that hearing is yet to be set.

Those charged with serious crimes will need to mount a strong criminal defense to fight those charges. A conviction for a drug crime in Pennsylvania can carry with it serious consequences including having to carry the social stigma associated with such crimes. An attorney would be able to help those accused to mount the most aggressive defense possible and help his or her client to get the best possible outcome.
