Pennsylvania man charged with child endangerment, DUI

Facing a serious charge can be overwhelming and quite intimidating. A conviction on a DUI charge can be life-altering, but there is help for anyone needing to fight those charges in Pennsylvania. Such is the case of a 42-year-old man recently accused of intoxicated driving while there were three children in the back seat of the vehicle. The man was charged with endangering the welfare of children and DUI.

State police pulled the vehicle over for what they say was erratic driving. Cops say the vehicle was drifting in and of the oncoming lane of traffic. When the vehicle was pulled over, police said the children were in the back seat without wearing seat belts and without being in proper safety seats. They also said they smelled alcohol on the driver.

In addition to the DUI and felony child endangerment charges, the accused was charged with recklessly endangering another person (times three) and several other summary traffic infringements. His bail was set at $5,000. He will be arraigned on all charges early in the new year.

Having a strong defense is crucial to fighting a fighting a DUI charge in Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania and all other states, an accused person is presumed innocent unless and until he or she is convicted by a judge or a jury in criminal court. A police stop of a vehicle may be challenged in court as well as the arrest itself and any breath, field sobriety, blood or urine tests. While each case depends upon the specific facts presented and any applicable laws, the goal of defense counsel is always to obtain the best possible result for the client.
