Criminal defense: Man accused of years' old sexual assault

Facing an accusation of sexual assault can be both disturbing and potentially life-changing. Being accused of sexually assaulting a child, as in the case of a 42-year-old Pennsylvania man, can have particularly devastating consequences. The Harrisburg resident has been accused of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl and will need to fight those charges with an experienced criminal defense team leading the way.

The alleged incident happened 15 years ago so the girl is now 19. Authorities were called by the young woman's grandfather in August of last year. He told police his granddaughter wanted to report the alleged 2003 assault. She told police the suspect alleged forced her to touch him inappropriately and that he did the same to her.

The suspect is free on $50,000 unsecured bail. He has been charged with felony aggravated indecent assault of a child younger than 13 and sexual contact with a minor. He is also facing misdemeanor charges of corruption of minors and indecent assault of a child younger than 13.

A conviction for a sex crime carries additional penalties beyond time behind bars. Even after serving a prison sentence in Pennsylvania, a sex crime conviction may require the individual to register as a sex offender. Convicted sex offenders can be searched online where names, addresses, and sex crime convictions, along with photographs of those convicted can be found. Having an experienced criminal defense attorney helping to fight the charges may be crucial in these instances and may save an accused person's life from being forever changed in many ways.
