Alligator seized, drug charges filed in Pennsylvania drug bust

An unlikely creature was seized by police during a recent drug raid. In addition to finding thousands of dollars in cash, what they believe to be fentanyl, heroin and crack cocaine, Pennsylvania cops say they also found a three-foot-long alligator in the residence. Three men now facing drug charges will each need experienced legal counsel to mount an aggressive defense against those charges.

The accused, who are 31, 35 and 40 years of age, were charged with drug trafficking as well as with other offenses. The alligator was taken to a zoo. Meanwhile, the accused men were transported to Chester County prison pending court proceedings.

The alligator was supposedly found on the kitchen floor. The local district attorney said it was likely in the house to protect the cash and drugs police allegedly found on the premises. The baby gator will eventually be transported to a Florida alligator farm where it will grow to be between 8 and 10 feet in length at maturity.

Drug charges are some of the most serious under Pennsylvania law. Drug trafficking is usually considered a felony, even in first offenses; penalties can be severe and often include jail time. As well, a conviction can significantly alter an individual's life with serious negative effects for the future in terms of employment and social standing, among other areas. An attorney will be able to answer an accused client's criminal defense questions and may be the best resource for aggressively fighting the charges. A lawyer can help his or her client to explore the options when building a defense and offer advice and guidance depending upon the circumstances.
